Whether you are visiting Uganda as a tourist or for work, you need to arm yourself with some Ugandan jargon in order to have an easier day. This list is not as exhaustive as I’d wish it to be since Uganda is one of those countries that use a lot of slang and jargon. However, with these few words, you should be able to get around Uganda pretty OK. Welcome to Uganda!

Rolex was my favorite snack on campus when I felt lazy and didn’t want to cook.

This is amazing! It made recall one of my professor of economics who visited Australia and visited a restaurant. The waiter asked him if he wanted to be served. He said ‘thank you’ thinking it was a polite way of telling the waiter to serve him. He ended up staying for more than 2hrs without being served and starving since the waiter knew that by saying thank you, he didn’t want anything. It is therefore important to understand people culture when visiting any place.
Rolex is a great snack, also popular in Kenya. It would be interesting to try out Nsenene
I think I will start visiting Busia border for a chance to interact with many Ugandans. I will have mastered much of their languages by the time I will be leaving.
